Following the heels of “Breaking Barriers 2″, WSU’s first show of 2012 will be a co-show with our big brother promotion NWS. This show will be filmed for DVD and will be the final stop before WSU presents our biggest show of the calendar year, the WSU 5th Anniversary Show, which takes place on 3/3 in Deer Park, NY, on iPPV.

Five huge matches have been announced for this special event, as the stars of WSU get one more outing before putting it all on the line on 3/3.

QUICK LOOK AT THE MATCHES:
— Both Jillian Hall & Traci Brooks make their WSU returns on 1/21. The last time we saw Jillian Hall, Hall was narrowly defeated by Kristin Astara. The last time we saw Traci Brooks, Brooks was on the losing end of a tag team match to the Boston Shore. Now on 1/21, both will get a chance to climb the WSU World Title rankings, as a victory for either will boost themselves up the ladder for a potential World Title Shot. Making this match more intriguing is the return of WSU Hall of Famer, Molly Holly! Molly Holly will be making her 3rd appearance for WSU and if history is any indication, will be calling this huge match right down the middle!

— The other main event on 1/21 combines three of WSU’s most intense feuds into one match, in a special 5th Anniversary Show Preview. Alicia & Savage, who represented Team WSU at WARGAMES will get a chance to get revenge on Midwest Militia’s Allisyn Kay & Sassy Stephanie. It is amazing either of these four are able to compete after the brutality that took place in Wargames. If Wargames was any indication, expect wild violence between these four. The Soul Sisters, who defeated the Belle Saints to earn the number 1 contender spot for the WSU Tag Team Titles will get a chance to feel out the WSU Tag Team Champions The Boston Shore. Both teams are riding major highs and coming off big wins, as the Shore put down Rain & Jetta at the Breaking Barriers iPPV. Tina San Antonio & Marti Belle, formerly the Belle Saints, saw everything come to a head at Breaking Barriers, when it was revealed that Tina San Antonio faked her injury from day one, and used the time off for a WWE try-out. Instead of telling the truth to her partner, Tina lied to Marti, and then blindsided Marti with a vicious attack. This will be the first time that Tina San Antonio & Marti Belle find themselves in opposite corners of one another. With all 10 of these wrestlers looking forward to the 5 Year Anniversary Show, this match should prove to see who will have the upper hand going into that event.

— Two major title matches have been signed. WSU World Champion Mercedes Martinez will return to in-ring action after suffering a severe stinger and concussion, as a result of The Mid-West Militia’s attack on her at WARGAMES. Martinez will pair off with the feisty Jennifer Cruz. Cruz has been asking for respect and for title shots since day one, and WSU will finally oblige her, as a result of her big win against Niya at Breaking Barriers 2.

Becky Bayless made a successful return to WSU on 11/19, defeating the ever-annoying Rick Cataldo once and for all. Bayless said she wants to be taken seriously as a wrestler, and will have that opportunity as she squares off against perhaps the most intense and violent wrestler in all of womens wrestling, WSU Spirit Champion Jessicka Havok. Both of these title matches will have implications on the WSU 5 Year Anniversary show, as Martinez/Havok is currently scheduled to be title vs title. With both women looking for every edge going into the anniversary show, both women must also not over look their opponents on 1/21.

— Rick Cataldo is furious about losing to arch-rival Becky Bayless at Breaking Barriers II and has asked WSU for a match to redeem himself. Sick of Cataldo’s actions in not just WSU, but in WSU’s brother promotion NYWC, Jessie Brooks has stepped up to the plate. This will be a first time ever match, with the winner moving up the rankings in the WSU Spirit Title division.

The biggest event on the WSU Calendar, the WSU 5 Year Anniversary Show, takes place on 3/3/12 in Deer Park, NY at the NYWC Sportatorium. We will have more on this show in future updates, but for now, here is what is announced already:

Serena Update: Serena vs Lexus was originally announced for this event, but as of today, will not take place due to Serena’s concussion. Serena is now not scheduled for this event. However, if Serena is able to compete, WSU & Serena have a deal where Serena is welcome back to WSU when or if she is ready.

Also taking place will be the WSU Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Cindy Rogers, Jana, Georgianne Makropolous and Dixie Carter have been announced as the Class of 2012, joining previous inductees Luna Vachon, April Hunter, Ivory, Molly Holly, Jazz, Dawn Marie, Sherri Martel, Malia Hosaka and Missy Hyatt.

Rick Cataldo vs Becky Bayless
Before the match, Cataldo takes the microphone. I love this guy! So funny… He says he doesn’t give a f**k about Becky and will break her nails, face etc. He calls her a “drunk whore” and brings up her past DUI.

Out comes Becky and gets on the mic. Becky says he’s a joke and while she was working and traveling around the world in TNA, he was watching gay porn in his mom’s basement. She says he’s disrespecting WSU, the women backstage and the fans and she’ll beat some respect into him.

Cataldo slaps Becky but she fires back with several slaps of her own and a hard chop. Cataldo leapfrogs Becky and tries to pin her but she sits on his face which makes him squeam! He jumps out of the ring and Becky gives chase. They get back in the ring & Cataldo takes control now. He chokes her over the middle rope. He rakes her eyes and then tries to bite her nails off but Becky hits a jawbreaker and goes for a pin but doesn’t get a three. Cataldo rakes her eyes and goes to work on her but Becky with a hard slap and a bulldog. Pin attempt.

Becky with an Oklahoma roll but Cataldo kicks out. Cataldo hits her face first against the mat. Side backbreaker over Cataldo’s knee on Becky. Cataldo in control, but Becky soon fights back by slamming him head first several times on the top turnbuckle while she’s sitting there… Pin attempt but Rick grabs the ropes.

Rick Cataldo and Becky Bayless have several things in common when it comes to WSU – both were part of WSU’s first shows in 2007 and both have never minded being called a diva. However, that is where the similarities end, and the differences begin.

From WSU’s start in 2007, Becky Bayless & Rick Cataldo never got along. While Becky Bayless was proving to the wrestling world that she was no longer just another pretty face, but a true wrestler during her series of matches with Alicia, Rick Cataldo was weaseling himself into WSU. For newer WSU fans who ask “How is Rick Cataldo, a male, in an all female promotion?” the answer is simple. Rick Cataldo hired a lawyer and threatened to sue & shut WSU down for not being an equal opportunity employer. Cataldo said while he is a male, he is a diva and deserves the same opportunity and chances as the females in professional wrestling.

Cataldo & Bayless butted heads in the early days of WSU, going at it in Uncensored Rumbles and never being on the same page.

The two had their first one-on-one singles match on 10/3/09 (You can purchase the DVD at WSUVideo.com or watch the match directly on your computer at http://www.clickwrestle.com/pro/22191/becky-bayless-vs-rick-cataldo). Bayless came out the winner in that match, and Cataldo was furious.

After their match, Bayless & Cataldo went different ways in WSU. Cataldo, a former WSU Tag Champion who masterminded “The Beatdown Betties” tag team, tried to find success again, in stable form, when himself & Brittney Savage created “The Cosmo Club.” The Cosmo Club would hold the WSU Spirit & WSU Tag Team Championships during their duration. However, the Cosmo Club wasn’t afraid to get personal with Bayless.

Savage & Bayless never got along and feuded over the WSU Spirit Title during 2010. The same title that Savage first won on 10/10/09 in a triple threat match with then champion Latasha & Becky Bayless herself.

Things got way too personal when Savage, under Cataldo’s pushing and will, talked about a DWI Becky Bayless got in 2008. Here’s a refresher of that video:

Savage & Cataldo would not stop mocking Bayless for her DWI, and things came to a head on 6/26/10 at the WSU Uncensored Rumble III event. Savage would beat Bayless after spitting alcohol in the face of Bayless.

Since that time, a lot has changed. Bayless left WSU to pursue a career in TNA Wrestling, a mismanaged bushleague operation that saddled Bayless with the name of “Cookie”, a play off “Snookie” from Jersey Shore. During Bayless’s time in the miserable cesspool land known as TNA, Bayless was reduced to fist pumping and trying to do a job to the best of her ability. However, now Bayless has returned home to WSU, where it’s not a job, but a personal vendetta. Bayless has unfinished business to settle. Her first target: Rick Cataldo.

When WSU announced that Bayless would be returning on 11/19 at the Breaking Barriers II iPPV, Cataldo demanded a match, claiming he also had unfinished business. After talking with Bayless, the rematch has been made, and we will see Bayless vs Cataldo II LIVE on iPPV on 11/19.

Los Angeles, CA. – Becky Bayless, most recently seen as TNA Knockout “Cookie” has agreed to join the World Independent Ladies’ Division! Bayless, known for her time on the indy circuit and in “Wrestlicious,” joins a crop of recent recruits to WILD, including Shelly Martinez and Mia Yim.
